I can't tell you how many times I've sat down and drifted off in my mind. To escape the giant ball of boredom my life had become, I'd transport myself to a different time and place...a time where I had control about where I went and how I got there...a time and place where I could surround myself with beautiful works of art. After a while, I'd come back into my own boring world, surrounded by feelings of homesickness...longing for New York City and the many beautiful things it offers, such as stunning museums.
Nowadays, things are different. It doesn't hurt as much anymore. I'm still not in New York, but I can view beautiful works of art on my computer- not just art that is housed in New York City museums, but art located in museums throughout the world.. Sure, it's not the same as being there, in person, but it certainly does help.
Through the Internet, I can view interesting works of art that transport me to a different place and time, according to what I'm viewing in the painting. I can travel to the middle of nowhere and view rural, European life in the 1600s under enormous billowing clouds. I can see city life in America, in the early 1900s. I can enjoy a calm, quiet day, or I can view a serious and scary historical event. No matter where I go, I can view past worlds in the safety of my own home.
My computer is the stairway. It doesn't matter that I'm physically disabled. I can run up the stairs to a different world, and then run back down to mine, when I'm ready. It's a privilege to have an art classics shop. I can share art I love with the public. I hope people experience the same joy in using the products that I have in preparing them with art.
